Using Biology: God’s Living Creation (5 th Edition) (Abeka), students will explore foundational topics in biology including units on botany, zoology, human body systems, ecology, and cellular structure.


Class time will include hands-on laboratory experiences, group activities, and clarification of key

concepts, while students complete readings and written assignments at home. The course

includes regular labs such as microscopy, experiments, and dissections, providing students with

practical experience and reinforcing scientific concepts.

Students will develop skills in scientific observation, data analysis, and critical thinking, while

gaining a solid foundation in biology. Most importantly, students will grow in their appreciation

for God’s design in the creation of life and how all of nature fits together according to His perfect

plan.

This course is designed to bridge the gap between high school and college-level composition. We begin with a rigorous review of paragraph and essay fundamentals to ensure every student has a strong foundation. From there, students will develop proficiency in writing a variety of academic essays, including argumentative, cause & effect, and literary analysis, among others.


The year culminates in a comprehensive research paper, equipping students with the confidence and technical skills required for success at the college or university level.
