Meet the Masters: This class is based on a children’s Art History curriculum called Meet the Masters. Students will explore the lives and works of one artist and one composer each month, while learning art terms, observing through Charlotte Mason style picture studies, listening to classical music, watching videos, reading picture books, writing short narrations, playing games, and creating an art project in the style of each master artist. This class is relevant for grades kindergarten through 8th grade, allowing kids to write and create at their own academic and developmental levels.

Each month, we will have a short lesson about a new composer, and for the rest of the month, while we learn and create, we will listen to music by that composer. My name is Rebekah Mackie, and I am a homeschool mama of five (now four adult kids and one high schooler). I was trained by Meet the Masters in 1997, and I have been teaching it in elementary classrooms, homes, and co-ops for the last 27 years. I absolutely LOVE it! You will be impressed when you visit the local art museum, and your child says things like, “Look, Mom! That’s by Vincent Van Gogh!”Students will watch and listen to a multimedia presentation that tells the life story of the artist, listen to picture books, examine their art through a Charlotte Mason style picture study, make a creative scrapbook page about the artist with pictures and a written narration, and then, they end the month with a project, in the style of that artist.
