Instructor: Riley Mackie

This delightful children’s choir invites young musicians to experience the joy of singing together while developing strong musical foundations. With a warm, Charlotte Mason-inspired approach, students will learn music through beauty, play, and participation - discovering the wonder of harmony and the power of voices working together in song.

Through engaging musical games and interactive activities, students will begin to understand the building blocks of music while growing in confidence as singers.

In this class, students will learn to:

• Follow a melody line in simple sheet music

• Sing in harmony with others

• Develop pitch matching and aural or listening skills

• Learn foundational music theory concepts through fun and memorable games

• Experience the joy of singing as a group

This choir is designed to be welcoming for both beginners and experienced young musicians. It is a wonderful class for students who are just beginning their musical journey, as well as students already taking private music lessons who want ensemble experience. There is truly no better place to learn sight singing, music reading skills, harmony, and cooperation than in a choir.

The class will conclude with a festive Christmas performance, giving students the opportunity to share the music they have learned with family and friends.

While the class may continue into a second semester, this is a one-semester commitment, making it a perfect opportunity to try choir without a full-year obligation.

Above all, the goal of this class is to nurture a love of music, attentive listening, and the delight of singing together.
