“How many are Your works, O Lord! In wisdom You have made them all; the earth is full of

Your creatures.” Psalm 104:24

This year we will explore the land animals of the Sixth Day of Creation. We will group and

study the animals the same way that Genesis 1:24-25 does: livestock, land crawlers, and beasts

of the earth. Students will learn about their scientific classification, their habitats, their physical

traits and behaviors, and their connections to humans and the environment.

Math Concepts for Middles is designed to deepen a student’s understanding of critical math

concepts, laying the foundation for success in middle school and high school math. The first

semester will begin with a review of basic operations, and then will cover decimals, fractions and

percents. The second semester will focus on geometry. Students will also practice critical

thinking and problem-solving strategies throughout the year.

This class is meant to deepen conceptual understanding of key math concepts. If a student has

not yet been exposed to a concept (such as percents, for example), they will still benefit from the

class.

Utilizing hands-on project-based learning, students will explore the integration of science,

technology, engineering, and math concepts. The engineering design process will provide the

framework to investigate and solve real-world problems. Emphasis will be on the 4 Cs of STEM:

Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, and Communication. Students will learn to use

rubrics to both evaluate their own projects and also provide constructive feedback to their

classmates.
